Karl holds an in-depth understanding of mineral sector governance based on two decades of work together with development partners, governments and the private sector. His diverse experience covers for example the development of policy, legal and institutional frameworks; countrywide mineral potential assessments; environmental and social impact assessments and guidelines development; ASM studies; mineral sector promotion; and ESG training and Due Diligence. Karl has also worked in mineral exploration and has a thorough understanding of the technical, practical and economic aspects of mineral project development. He holds BSc (Honours), MSc and PhD degrees in geology from the University of Cape Town.
