About me

David Beer took up his appointment as Chief Executive Officer in September 2022. He has over 20 years senior international experience in aid for trade, diplomacy, multilaterals, and economic development. Prior to joining TradeMark, David was the UK’s High Commissioner to Malawi, and has been the UK’s Development Director in Burundi and Malawi. He has previously advised respective UK Executive Directors to the Boards of the World Bank and International Monetary Fund. He has worked for two decades across Africa, including Uganda, Sudan, Burundi, Malawi, the Democratic of Congo, and Ghana; where he has held senior leadership positions, designed and managed innovative programmes, and driven diplomatic and influencing strategies. He is a graduate of Oxford University.
