Mr. Josiah Syanda is a Deputy Director at Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate Service. The extent of his responsibility includes training both government and private companies and individuals on regulatory and best agribusiness practices. He oversees the management of border surveillance, pest and disease monitoring, regulation of imported plants and plant products entering and exports exiting Kenya. He is a lead person on innovation and automation of Phytosanitary inspection and certification processes and systems in KEPHIS. He has extensive knowledge on digitization and automation of processes.
Syanda has travelled extensively and represented Kenya in Phytosanitary and quality standards technical meetings in Europe, Asia Pacific, North America and Latin America. He was a member of the Expert Working group that developed Appendix 1 of ISPM 12. Mr Syanda is very competed trainer, a motivational speaker, a mentor and very experienced in regulatory, policy and international trade.
