Gerald is the current CEO of NMB Bank Limited, a commercial bank in Zimbabwe, a position he has held since January 2022. He is a qualified banker with experience in Digital transformation, strategic, risk and financial management having previously held the positions of Deputy CEO, COO and Chief Risk Officer all with NMB Bank. Gerald led a low budget, inhouse driven digital transformation of NMB from a traditional paper-based bank to a fully-fledged digital bank over a period of 3 years. The result was an end-to-end digitalisation of all customer journeys, internal processes and 100% eradication of paper-based transactions in the bank. He led the process to in-house most of the systems and platforms used in the bank and managed to develop over 25 innovative products using a local in-house ICT team. The systems include among others, automation of customer on-boarding, mobile and internet banking platforms, paperless agency banking platform, robotic process automation and workflow management systems. This led to the setting up of a standalone Fintech company that is developing technology solutions and a Fintech OS for other financial and non-financial institutions in Zimbabwe and other African countries. Gerald is a holder of an Advanced Management Program from INSEAD (France), Executive Development Program-Wits University (South Africa), Master in Business Leadership-MBL (South Africa), MSc in Finance & Investments (Zim) and Bachelor of Commerce-Banking (Zim). He is also an Alumni of the USA International Visitors Leadership Program (IVLP)-Emerging African leaders and served on a number of boards.
