About me

Currently Managing Director of Tanger Med Zones (TMZ), he oversees the development, implementation, and management of special economic zones within the Tanger Med industrial platform. He has established strong strategic partnerships and holds membership and leadership positions in international organizations such as the International Maritime Organization (IMO), UNCTAD, UNIDO, WTO, and the African Union Commission. Prior to his current appointment, he led international business development, including the design of investment and partnership agreements with several ports and government authorities in Africa. Since 2011, he has also been Director of Economic Zones, responsible for setting up the Tanger Med automotive industrial platform, which is home to the Renault Nissan plant and a complete ecosystem of tier 1 suppliers. Ahmed Bennis played a key role in the creation of the Africa Economic Zones Organization (AEZO) and the African Ports Task Force (APTF), for which he currently serves as Secretary General. He is also a founding member of the Global Alliance of Special Economic Zones (GASEZ), an initiative launched in May 2021 by UNCTAD
