About me
Mutale Bertrand Mulenga is a highly motivated and goal-oriented accomplished agribusiness and food science professional with a decade of experience in agriculture, business development and social enterprise management. He holds a Master of Science in Food Science and Technology and a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (Crop Science Major), which has equipped him with solid foundation in agricultural development, food systems, and stakeholder engagement.
Born on the 2nd of February, 1988, in Zambia, and Co-founder of Stockyard Ltd, Mutale Bertrand Mulenga continues to build a career defined by dedication, innovation, and a strong commitment to community empowerment. Throughout his professional journey, he strives to demonstrate exceptional leadership and coordination skills, particularly in facilitating farmer training programs and building partnerships among key agricultural stakeholders.
Mr Mulenga, has also earned multiple professional certifications, including Zambian Business Strategies for Social Impact, Renewable Energies, Nutrition for Developing Countries, and the GS1 Academic Certificate in Global Supply Chain Standards.
Married and based in Ndola and Luanshya, Copperbelt Province, Zambia, Mr Mulenga aims to continue to drive positive change through agribusiness innovation, stakeholder engagement, and sustainable enterprise development by farming in Luanshya under Stockyard Ltd, aggregating horticultural produce from farmers on the Copperbelt and North Western Provinces and supplying the vegetables and fruits to Pick’n’Pay, Shoprite, informal markets and the DRC market.
Mr. Mulenga is currently the Director of Operations and Business Development at Stockyard Limited, a Zambian company engaged in agribusiness, cross border trading and cold chain logistics. Stockyard Limited has grown into a key player in agricultural supply chains, handling bulk cross-border trade of fish and fruits at the Kasumbalesa border, and supplying fresh produce to major retail chains stores.
His strategic initiatives have strengthened the company’s market position, including:
• Establishing the fish trading enterprise at Kasumbalesa in 2014.
• Securing vendor partnerships with international retail chain stores.
• Recently embarking on the cold chain logistics enterprise and are currently providing a service to Pick’n’Pay Zambia.
• Leading successful collaborations with organizations such as Omnia Nutriology, Syngenta, the Ministry of Agriculture, and ZANIS.
• Securing matching grants from Zambia Agribusiness Trade Project 1 and PROSPERO to enhance supply chain efficiency.
• Overseeing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs by supporting women’s prison sections, vulnerable groups, and smallholder farmers.
Mr Mulenga has also successfully coordinated farmer training initiatives, with some sessions drawing more than 80 participants. His collaborative efforts have brought together organizations such as Omnia Nutriology, Syngenta, the Ministry of Agriculture, and ZANIS, among others. His commitment to advancing agricultural development and community-based programs earned him a recent appointment to the Provincial Productive Alliance Advisory Committee (PPAAC) of the Zambia Agribusiness and Trade Project 2 under the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry and the World Bank, where he represents the Zambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the provincial level.
Earlier in his career, Mr. Mulenga served as a Trainee Manager at Zambeef Products PLC, where he participated in the management of large-scale crop production (maize, wheat, soybeans, and barley) under mechanized operations.
His international and national exposure includes professional experiences and internships with Oneharvest-Fresh Cuts (Australia), York Farm Limited (Zambia), and Desert Green Horticultural Corporation (Namibia)—where he honed his skills in food product development, hydroponic farming, and research and development.
He has also undergone professional training with TEVETA in Business Development Services (BDS) Provision and participated in the Kukula Capital and USAID EDGE investment readiness program—enhancing his ability to engage investors, develop business proposals, and manage organizational growth.
Guided by a commitment to sustainable development and community empowerment, Mr. Mulenga believes in harnessing the synergy between agriculture and mining to foster inclusive growth and corporate social responsibility in Zambia. His leadership philosophy emphasizes collaboration, capacity-building, and ethical management as foundations for long-term organizational success. His vision centers on building trust, promoting collaboration, and advancing social responsibility to drive long-term positive change for a better Africa and World at Large.
