Rudolph J. Merab, Sr. is a veteran forestry executive and corporate leader with over four decades of experience across Liberia’s forestry, timber, transportation, construction, mining, insurance, and financial services sectors. He is widely regarded as one of Liberia’s most experienced professionals in forest governance, commercial forestry, and institutional leadership. Mr. Merab currently serves as Managing Director of the Forestry Development Authority (FDA), a position he assumed in 2024. In this role, he provides strategic oversight for Liberia’s forest management and regulatory framework, drawing on decades of hands-on industry knowledge and public-sector experience. His leadership has been instrumental in advancing forestry reforms, legality assurance, and sustainable resource management. Previously, he served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Bopolu Development Corporation (BODECO) for ten years and as a shareholder and manager of Merab and Massie LLC. He also held senior leadership roles at the Liberia Wood Management Corporation (LWMC), including President and General Manager, where he oversaw large-scale timber operations and corporate growth. And also formerly served as Technical Manager Monrovia Transit Authority (MTA), and Member of the Board of Directors of the National Port Authority. He also served multiple terms on the Board of Directors of the Forestry Development Authority and chaired the Forestry Management Advisory Committee (FMAC) for over a decade, playing a central role in post-conflict forestry sector reforms. His broader governance experience includes board service with Monrovia Banking Corporation and other national institutions. Mr. Merab holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics, with a minor in Chemistry, from the University of Liberia. He is also an active faith-based and community leader within the United Methodist Church. His career reflects a sustained commitment to ethical leadership, institutional development, and sustainable forest governance in Liberia.
