About me

Driving Cultural Dialogue and African Visibility in Europe Nancy Mariam Kawaya is the Head of the Congolese Cultural Center of Brussels, a unique and strategic hub dedicated to the promotion and celebration of African cultures. A communication professional, digital consultant, and entrepreneur, she has built a multidisciplinary career at the intersection of digital innovation, media, entrepreneurship, and cultural leadership. Today, she leverages this diverse expertise to strengthen cultural visibility, foster intercultural dialogue, and advance inclusion, positioning the Center as a vibrant and influential space within the cultural landscape of Brussels and beyond. After completing a graduate degree in Management Information Systems, Nancy specialized in growth hacking, digital communication, and multimedia content creation. She continues to work as a consultant, advising companies, institutions, and public figures on visibility and communication strategies, combining technical rigor with strategic creativity to deliver impactful and sustainable results. From 2018 to 2023, she worked as a journalist and program producer for Voxafrica, where she created and hosted television programs highlighting the African diaspora, entrepreneurship, and culture. This media experience sharpened her storytelling skills and reinforced her ability to structure meaningful narratives and facilitate high-impact conversations across diverse audiences. Opened in December 2023, the Congolese Cultural Center of Brussels—housed in the former Senne lock—offers an open and diverse program including exhibitions, film screenings, literary cafés, and spaces for dialogue. Under Nancy’s leadership, the Center goes beyond artistic presentation to become a living platform where voices, projects, and identities converge. Recognized for her versatility, Nancy has moderated and hosted a wide range of events, from major business forums and political meetings to cultural festivals and public gatherings. Notably, she hosted and moderated the 10th anniversary of the Makutano Network in Kinshasa, one of Central Africa’s leading business forums, as well as numerous panels and conferences across Europe and Africa. Guided by a strong cultural vision, Nancy believes that “African culture is not only a memory to honor; it is a force to activate—building bridges, creating opportunities, and asserting our place in the world.” Through dialogue, exchange, and the celebration of talent, she actively contributes to shaping a shared future rooted in influence, prosperity, and cultural pride.
