About me

Youngor Sevelee Telewoda is a career diplomat with more than four decades of service in the Liberian Foreign Service. She currently serves as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Federal Republic of Germany, with co-accreditation to Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Austria, as well as Permanent Representative to United Nations organizations in Austria. She previously served as ambassador to Japan with co-accreditation to Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, South Korea, and New Zealand. Ambassador Telewoda also served as ambassador to Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, the European Union, and held senior roles at Liberia’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York, United States. Prior to serving in the Liberian Foreign Service, she was Assistant Director of the Bureau of the Budget from 1982 to 1985. Ambassador Telewoda is currently a board member of the Angie Brooks International Center for Women's Empowerment and Leadership. Her work includes leading negotiations to establish Liberia’s first National Data Center for natural disaster tracking, advancing the creation of the country’s first radiotherapy and cancer screening center, and securing support for Liberia’s first dialysis center. She has also played a key role in mobilizing international funding for higher education and infrastructure projects in Liberia, including a technical college and major road construction. Ambassador Telewoda holds an MBA from Pace University, a bachelor’s degree from the University of Liberia, and a Diploma in Project Planning and Budgeting for Rural Development in Third World Countries from the University of Bradford, England. She is the longest-serving ambassador in Liberia’s foreign service and a Dame Commander of the Order of the Knighthood of the Pioneers of the Republic of Liberia.
