James Strother

President

Liberian Business Association (LIBA)

About me

My name is James Mozart Strother, a proud son of Liberia, born in the vibrant town of Tapeta, Nimba County. I was born to the union of Mr. and Mrs. Strother, whose values of hard work, discipline, and service to community shaped the man I have become. These values were instilled in me from an early age and have remained the guiding principles throughout my personal and professional journey. I am a father, a public servant, an entrepreneur, and a leader committed to the advancement of Liberia and the empowerment of its people. I pursued higher education with a strong determination to make a meaningful impact. This led me to earn a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Cuttington University, one of Liberia’s premier institutions of learning. I had the distinct honor of serving my country in a critical national role as Deputy Commissioner for Operations at the Liberia Immigration Service from 2002 to 2006. During this time, I contributed to strengthening border control, improving operational efficiency, and upholding the rule of law at a time when our country was undergoing significant transformation. After my tenure in public service, I transitioned into the private sector with a renewed vision for nation-building through enterprise. I founded N C Sanitors, a waste management company that quickly rose to prominence due to its dedication to cleanliness, environmental safety, and job creation. Under my leadership as Chief Executive Officer (CEO), N C Sanitors became one of the largest and most respected waste management companies in Liberia, setting a standard for excellence in the sector. In 2018, my journey took yet another meaningful turn when I was elected as President of the Liberian Business Association (LIBA). As President, I have championed the cause of Liberian entrepreneurs, advocated for policies that support indigenous businesses, and worked tirelessly to build bridges between the private sector and government. My tenure, which ends in 2026, continues to be marked by efforts to strengthen local commerce and empower the next generation of Liberian business leaders. Through every chapter of my life—from public service to private enterprise—I have remained committed to integrity, innovation, and national development. I believe deeply in the potential of Liberia and its people, and I will continue to dedicate myself to causes that uplift and unify our nation.
