About me

Lisa Antoune is a French-born entrepreneur who has lived and worked in Liberia for the past 16 years. A dedicated mother of two and an entrepreneur at heart, she is the Managing Director and co-founder, alongside her husband, of four ecolodges dedicated to sustainable tourism and conservation: Libassa Ecolodge (2012), Kokon Ecolodge (2023), Nimba Ecolodge (2024), and Warkolor Jungle Lodge & Reserve (2024). Built as a true partnership, her husband leads the design and construction of all projects, while Lisa oversees operations, strategy, and long-term management. Through these ventures, Lisa has helped position ecotourism as a powerful tool for environmental protection, community development, and sustainable economic growth in Liberia, demonstrating how responsible tourism can create jobs while protecting natural ecosystems. Deeply committed to wildlife conservation, Lisa co-founded the Libassa Wildlife Sanctuary with her husband, establishing Liberia’s first wildlife sanctuary of its kind. The sanctuary currently cares for over 300 rescued animals, with a strong focus on rehabilitation, release (more than 600 animals to date), and conservation education. Education and social empowerment are central to Lisa’s mission. In 2016, she founded the Butterfly Early Learning Center, which now educates more than 200 children aged 3 to 14. She is currently completing a second primary school on an isolated peninsula, expanding access to education for an underserved community of over 600 inhabitants. In addition, Lisa founded Lib’Boutique, a fair-trade boutique that highlights Liberia’s unique arts and crafts while generating sustainable support for the Butterfly School. Beyond her entrepreneurial and conservation work, Lisa serves as Treasurer and Event Planner of the Liberia National Tourism Association and as President of the French Business Club in Liberia, where she builds and strengthens a network of French companies operating in the country to foster collaboration and promote shared business interests. Driven by passion and resilience, Lisa’s vision is to transform narratives through ecotourism by empowering communities, protecting wildlife, and fostering sustainable ways of living.
