Lagos State Technical & Vocational Education Board, Lagos, Nigeria
About me
Moronke Azeez is the Executive Secretary of the Lagos State Technical and Vocational Education Board (LASTVEB), the statutory agency responsible for the development and delivery of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Lagos State, Nigeria. In this role, she oversees the state’s technical colleges and skills development initiatives that equip young people and workers with industry-relevant technical and vocational skills, training more than 10,000 young people annually.
With over 25 years of experience in social development, education reform, and public sector leadership, Moronke has worked across government, international development agencies, and non-governmental organisations in both the United Kingdom and Nigeria. She previously served as Special Adviser to the Lagos State Government from 2007 to 2015, where she played a key role in education sector reforms and led the World Bank-funded Lagos Eko Secondary Education Project, which received an “Excellent” rating for achieving its objectives.
Under her leadership, LASTVEB has strengthened technical education systems and expanded partnerships between government, industry, and development partners to promote industry-aligned training, internships, youth employability, and inclusive skills development. She is especially committed to ensuring that skills systems adapt to changing labour market demands, including those driven by infrastructure investment, industrial growth, and emerging sectors such as the green economy.
Moronke is committed to advancing skills development as a key driver of economic transformation, job creation, and inclusive growth in Nigeria and across the West African region.
