Engr. Olasunkanmi Okusaga, is the Director, Rail Transport - Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA). He has over three decades of experience in railway transportation management (Railway Infrastructure, Operations Management including Safety and Regulations) from various railway organizations across Europe and Africa with notable achievements. He's the brain behind the Lagos Rail Mass Transit LRMT – Red and Blue lines particularly the Blue Line, which commenced commercial passenger operations recently. The Blue Line Rail prides as the first ever Electrified Railway Track in West Africa. Engr. Okusaga is a man with many caps, he is a certified Pway engineer, a Lead Auditor, Transport Integration Specialist, Railway Safety & Accident Investigator. He is also a Certified Railway Safety and Regulations Specialist. Since joining LAMATA he has been influential in the development of Lagos Rail Mass Transit implementation and other associated requirements, he designed and oversee the implementation of the Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) rolling stocks for the Lagos Rail Mass transit (LRMT) Blue Line and also the intermodal Transport Integration. He is a vast railway transport professional. Engr. Okusaga is currently the Project Director of the ongoing construction of Marina and Mile 2 transport interchanges, a project that is set to redefine the future of mobility in Lagos and Nigeria. This project will seamlessly integrate all modes of transport including Rail, Road, Water and Non-Motorized Transport (NMT). The project design and study is completed, Acquisition of properties is ongoing and the civil works will commence early 2024. Engr. Okusaga is an astute leader who has been able to accomplish so much with little resources, He is happily married and blessed with amazing children.
