Mrs Ana Beatriz Martins is the Ambassador of the European Union Delegation to Namibia since 1st September 2023. She dedicated most of her 30 year EU career to Diplomacy and Foreign relations, having worked on several regions, notably East Africa, South America, South and South East Asia, as well as on the Former Soviet Union. Her last diplomatic posting was in Brazil as the Deputy Head of Mission of the European Union Delegation, she was further posted in the EU Delegations to Thailand and South Korea as Political Counsellor. At Headquarters, in the EU’s European External Action Service, Mrs Martins served as Deputy Head of Division in geographical Directorates covering EU relations with East Africa and the Horn, the Mercosur region, Brazil, and as desk officer for EU-Bangladesh relations and the EU’s Technical Assistance programme for the Former Soviet Union, TACIS. She further worked for five years in the Directorate General for Employment and Social Affairs on innovative employment programmes for EU Member States. Mrs Martins mastered at the Freiburg University in Political Science and has a post-graduate degree in European Studies from the College of Europe in Bruges. Mrs. Martins is a Portuguese/German national and married with three children.
