About me

AMP (Harvard), Stanford Seed Alumni (Stanford University) Chartered Accountant (Namibia & South Africa), HdipAcc (Rhodes University – South Africa), B.Com (University of Namibia) Vetumbuavi, who is the founder of Ombu Capital, is an experienced entrepreneur, professional and business executive with expertise in strategy, finance, investment management, governance and business leadership. He was a Practicing Chartered accountant for 18-years, with extensive experience across various industries. As the managing partner of Deloitte Namibia and the regional managing partner for Deloitte Southern Corridor (Malawi, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, and Zimbabwe), he was responsible for the long-term strategies and business plans of these businesses and provided various consultancy services to businesses covering a range of industries and topics including strategy development, governance reviews and organisational repositioning. Until April 2021, he was the Chief Executive of Standard Bank Namibia for 7 seven years, and led the bank through large complex business projects including core banking system migration, business process re-engineering, share sale to employees and listing on the Stock Exchange. Vetumbuvai founded Ombu Capital in May 2021, a specialist impact investment management firm that also provides strategy advisory services to policy makers and organisations, including strategy facilitation, business repositioning as well as micro-economic research and sectoral value-chain reviews. The firm manages a private-equity fund from the Government Institutions Pension Fund, is in the process of establishing a specialist Impact Fund for MSMEs and has been awarded grant funding by UNIDO to spearhead the establishment of a demonstration plant for green processing of critical minerals. He joined the Africa Climate Investing Forum since March 2024 which has featured 10 interactive and collaborative sessions aimed at leveraging the power of finance for climate resilience and social impact. Vetumbuavi Mungunda attended a course on Impact Investing in Africa, at the University of Cape Town Graduate School of Business which aimed at deepening an understanding of the impact investing field. He is a fellow of the Africa Venture and Philanthropic Alliance and a graduate of the Stanford Seed Transformaton Programme. Vetumbuavi served on the Presidential Advisory Panel on the Namibian Economy (2019 – 2020), and has been appointed to the Presidential Task Force on the Namibia’s economic transformation (since November 2025) and currently serves as the Chairperson of the board of the Namibia Investments Promotion and Development Board (NIPDB) and President of the Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI). He is the Chairperson of the boards of Namibia Breweries Limited and Oryx Properties Limited, both listed on the Namibia Stock Exchange, and serves as the lead independent director on the boards of Bank Windhoek and Schoemans Group.
