About me

Ronny P.J. Dempers , commonly known as Ronny Dempers has a track record of over 25 years of community development experience primarily in civil ssociety of which 20 of those years have been serving as an Executive Director of an NGO including also serving on various Boards ( in both public and civil society) and has deep-rooted understanding of governance and institutional arrangements, decentralization policy and governance mechanisms, project management and inter-governmental coordination processes within Namibia and the SADC region on civil society matters. Ronny is the Executive Director of one of Namibia’s leading sustainable community development organizations, the Namibia Development Trust (NDT), which promotes environmental stewardship, resource conservation, and ecosystem-based livelihood generation. Ronny provides high level governance support on CBNRM[1] governance matters around community based CBNRM institutions support through a Network of Consortia partners organized through NACSO[2]. This benefit about 86 conservancies and 47 community forests and other CBNRM based formations. He is often called upon to provide governance and organizational development support and his most recent work is on facilitating governance frameworks for marginalized communities supported by Ministry of Gender and the World Food Program. He provides leadership role in the civil society networks like NACSO and most recently the newly formed apex body for civil society namely NAMNET ( Namibian Civil Society and Non State Actors Network ). Ronny holds a Master Degree in Participation , Development and Social Change through University of Sussex from Institute of Development studies , and Bachelors Degree through UNISA , majoring in Sociology and Development Ainistration and a National Diploma in Public Administration through Polytechnic of Namibia. His areas of interests are mainly around social justice, governance and citizen participation. Ronny Dempers hails from southern Namibia and has over 25 years of experience as a community development practitioner , with an activist background and operates as a social justice advocate. He is the Executive Director of one of Namibia’s leading sustainable development organizations, the Namibia Development Trust (NDT), which specialises in building the capacity of community based organisations and promotes environmental stewardship, resource conservation, and ecosystem-based livelihood generation. He plays an active leadership role within the Namibian civil society landscape and is linked to some of the key national umbrella formations such NACSO ( Namibian Association of CBNRM Support Organisations ) and civil society apex formations such as NamNet ( Namibia Civil Society and Non State Actors Network). His area of interests centres around participatory policy development and implementation, just energy transition.
