*REPLAY* Transport and Logistics: Gearing up for greener transport and trade
Room Diamante 1
Information
When fully implemented, the African Free Trade Continental Area could boost exports by $560 billion. Realising this potential, however, depends on modern, green transport corridors that boost trade and connectivity. Global Gateway and the AU long-term regional and continental infrastructure plan (PIDA PAP) are advancing high-impact corridors such as Lobito, Abidjan–Lagos, Walvis Bay, and Cotonou ProPort II. However, to realise corridor-linked investment opportunities, supply chain resilience will be critical. This panel will consider how to:
- Reduce trade costs and streamline customs and corridor governance
- Improve logistics standards, close infrastructure gaps, and strengthen skills
- Promote digital and low-carbon transport solutions aligned with the EU Green Deal and Africa’s Digital Strategy.
