Project Pitch
The Tomato Pulp and Ketchup Production project aims to establish a modern processing facility in Ethiopia to produce high-quality tomato pulp, paste, and ketchup for both domestic and export markets. Leveraging Ethiopia’s favorable agro-climatic conditions and extensive tomato cultivation across key regions, the project ensures a stable and sustainable supply of raw materials through contract farming, cooperatives, and commercial growers.
The facility will utilize advanced processing technologies, including washing, crushing, evaporation, homogenization, and aseptic packaging, ensuring high product quality, extended shelf life, and compliance with international standards. The project addresses structural gaps in Ethiopia’s agro-processing sector, notably post-harvest losses, seasonal oversupply, and market inefficiencies.
With strong import substitution potential and access to regional and international markets, including COMESA and Gulf countries, the project is well-positioned for scalable growth. By transforming fresh tomatoes into value-added products and utilizing by-products for animal feed and biofertilizer, it promotes resource efficiency and circular production models.
Aligned with Ethiopia’s agro-industrialization and food security priorities, the project will generate employment, support rural incomes, reduce import dependency, and contribute to foreign exchange generation, making it a commercially viable and impactful agro-processing investment.
