Project Pitch
Afriseed is expanding to address the growing demand for certified, climate-resilient seeds across Africa’s COMESA region, where current production meets less than 25% of total market potential.
The company develops and multiplies certified maize, legume, and oilseed varieties through a network of over 2,000 smallholder out-growers, distributing to more than 150,000 farmers annually. Beyond seed supply, Afriseed delivers agronomic training and financial literacy to enhance productivity, resilience, and farmer incomes.
Financially, Afriseed has demonstrated consistent performance, with €10.8M in revenue in 2023, maintaining profitability through adverse conditions and sustaining an equity base of nearly €12M.
Afriseed seeks €9M in growth capital to scale seed production, invest in processing and storage, strengthen distribution networks, and expand into new regional markets including Angola, DRC, Tanzania, and Kenya. The investment will enable Afriseed to reach over 400,000 smallholder farmers, expand climate-smart seed supply by 33%, and advance sustainable, inclusive agriculture aligned with SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDG 13 (Climate Action).
