Project Pitch
The project proposes deploying approximately 3,500 km of high-capacity terrestrial fibre-optic backbone interconnecting Maputo, Beira, Nampula, Nacala, Pemba, and Tete. The backbone will be designed in a resilient ring topology, ensuring high availability and redundancy. Initial capacity will be 100 Gbps per segment, scalable to 400 Gbps and beyond, using DWDM optical transmission and carrier-grade IP/MPLS core architecture. The network will operate as a neutral wholesale platform serving ISPs, enterprises, banks, and government institutions, while also enabling the creation of local ISPs outside Maputo city. CILIX will additionally develop local access networks in major cities to ensure high-quality internet access.
