About me

Busiku Sulwe (FZIP) is a Fellow and President of the Zambia Institute of Planners where he advocates integrated development planning among planning and allied professionals in the Republic of Zambia. The institute registers three fields of planning being Spatial, Socio-Economic and Environmental Planning. He holds over 18 years’ experience in Planning, Stakeholder Engagement, Environmental and Social Governance (ESG), impact investing, involuntary resettlement, social and environmental impact assessment and management, and corporate social investment. Busiku has delivered results across the life cycle of businesses predominantly in the mining sector - from project development and approvals through to operations and closure, from site operations to asset-based and corporate roles. In his professional career, he previously worked from the shop floor to Manager to Director level in different organisations such as Zambia Sugar PLC, Mazabuka Municipal Council, Albidon Zambia Ltd, Mabiza Resources Ltd, Consolidated Nickel Mines, Mugoto Foundation Trust, Munsangu Foundation, Natures Nector, Family Health International – ZPCT II Project, Intrepid Mines Zambia Ltd, Vulcan Green Copper Ltd, Consolidated Mining and Investment, Skyline Auto Services Zambia Ltd. He is a Mandela Washington Fellow of the Young African Leaders Initiative, a programme by the US State Department that recognises and develops Young African leaders. Busiku holds an MSc in Strategic Planning from Herriot-Watt University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the Copperbelt University. He further holds a certificate in Business and Entrepreneurship from the University of Notre Dame.
