IKanono Leronti Ramashamole is a seasoned executive with over 17 years of experience in telecommunications and digital innovation, including 15 years in progressively senior leadership roles across both the private and public sectors. He currently serves as the Principal Secretary in Lesotho’s Ministry of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation (MICSTI), where he leads the national agenda on digital transformation, research and innovation, broadcasting and postal services, public information, and the National Library. His work places citizen empowerment, public sector efficiency, and inclusive innovation at the centre of national policy and implementation. Regionally, he brings extensive experience in telecoms operations, renewable energy-driven TowerCo models, data centre development, and digital finance, while maintaining strong strategic networks across the SACU region and beyond. On the continental stage, Mr. Ramashamole chair the African Union’s Technical Experts Group of the Specialized Technical Committee on Communication and ICT (AU STC-CICT) and former Chair the African Telecommunications Union (ATU) Preparatory Meetings (APM27-1) toward the ITU World Radiocommunication Conference. He is passionate about building resilient digital ecosystems, empowering the next generation of innovators, and advancing Africa’s digital transformation through policy, partnerships, and cooperation. I have been invited to participate as a speaker by GIZ Office to the AU to this event.
