Short Description: This session will explore the needs of Africa’s workforce, highlighting continental standards, employer involvement, and transparent governance to deliver cross-border, globally recognized, and industry-relevant qualifications.
Main Objectives:
- Explore a continental approach to certification, occupational standards and micro-credentials to ensure Africa’s workforce meets global private sector demands through internationally recognised qualifications, within the 10-year Continental TVET strategy 2025-2034.
- Understand interest and availability of the private sector, including employer's organisations and sectoral bodies, in validating skills profiles and investing in African Continental Qualifications Framework (ACOF) initiatives.
- Test potential governance mechanisms, led by continental and regional institutions, to transform data into agreed standards and secure broad endorsement and adoption of certification schemes.
- Present the AUC’s ACQF tools available for sharing information about available employment-oriented credentials such as Qualifications and Credentials Platform and discuss their use by certifiers.
Deliverables from the Session: A state of play of the nexus between the world of work and the world of education, with reiterated concrete private sector expectations and towards qualifications and certification at continental level.
