Short Description: This session showcases X-Road, the EU’s open-source data exchange layer that enables secure, interoperable and privacy-preserving digital services. The workshop begins with a concise keynote explaining how X-Road works, why it is sovereign-by-design, and how it supports both national and cross-border data exchange.

Deliverables from the Session: A high-level panel will then bring together government and technical experts from partner countries to share concrete experiences integrating X-Road into their existing digital ecosystems. Speakers will discuss governance, cybersecurity, interoperability with legacy systems, and the impact on service delivery for citizens and businesses. The session will highlight how X-Road can serve as a trusted Digital Public Infrastructure building block for AU–EU digital cooperation, helping countries scale digital services while retaining full control over their infrastructure and data.
