Project Pitch
The LAMATA Purple Line is a flagship sustainable urban rail project designed to expand climate-resilient mass transit in the Lagos metropolitan region. The project comprises approximately 60 km of rail infrastructure with 17 stations, connecting Lagos and Ogun States and integrating with the existing Blue and Red Lines of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) network. It aims to reduce congestion, lower greenhouse gas emissions, and improve access to economic opportunities by enabling a modal shift toward low-carbon transport. With an estimated cost of US$2.0 billion, the project is structured with 10% public equity from Lagos State and 90% debt financing to be mobilised from Development Finance Institutions and commercial lenders. The project is proposed to be constructed through an EPC model.
